Class 5 2017 - 2018

Miss Bennett

Welcome back after the Christmas break. Hopefully you will be fully recharged and raring to go as we have a lot of exciting and wonderful treats ahead of us. We are looking forward to sharing with you what happens in class 5, as well as communicating information and ideas.

We have a very busy Spring term ahead! Our topic for Humanities (that's History & Geography) this term will be the contrasting localities by looking at Buckley town and comparing that with the rural area of Bala. . The theme of Wales will also link to our work in Art this term, as the children will be given the opportunity to design and create a collage of the local area.

Our Science topic for this half term will be Rocks and Soils. In Literacy the children will be focusing on Welsh Myths and Legands and in Mathematics, we will be looking at shape and problem solving linked to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Please remember that in class 5 PE is every Monday and PE kits should be brought into school at the beginning of each half term.

Please look at the calendar on the school website to learn about all the forthcoming events e.g. World book day, Polar Explorers etc.

Homework will be sent out every Friday and will be expected to be in by the following Thursday. The homework will include a maths task related to the four rules of number. The children will also be expected to complete a word detective and learn a list of spellings in preparation for our weekly spelling test every Wednesday.

Please do remember to keep up with your reading, at least ten minutes, on at least three occasions a week at home.

Thank you for your continued support

Miss Bennett, Mrs Matthews, Mrs Whitehead and Mrs Hughes smiley

What's Being Said?

"I never thought that Westwood was so large inside! From the road, it seems so small. What a wonderful use of space. The school has changed so much over the years!" - recent visitor to school
