Class 6 2017 - 2018

Mr Powell

Welcome to the homepage of Class 6! (#Team6) laugh

Welcome back!! Hopefully you will be fully recharged after a fantastic Christmas break and raring to go as we have a lot of exciting and wonderful treats ahead of us. We are looking forward to sharing with you what happens in Class 6, as well as communicating information and ideas.

Just like the Autumn term, the Spring Term is full of exciting lessons and topics!  Our topic for Humanities (that's History & Geography) this term will be looking at the similarities and differences between our home town Buckley and Bala Town, the place where our residential trip to Glan-Llyn is! The theme of contasting localities will also link to our work in DT and Music this term, as the children will be given the opportunity to design and create their own boat through the Polar Explorer workshop, we look at textiles and even make some sandwiches!

Our Science topic for this half term will be Rocks and Soils and we will take a closer look at Plants. In Literacy the children will be focusing on Myths and Legends and Instructional Writing. In Mathematics, we will be looking at measure, shape, time, temperature and fractions.

Please remember that in Class 6 , PE is every Thursday and PE kits should be brought into school at the beginning of each half term.

Please look at the calendar on the school website to learn about all the forthcoming events.

Homework will be sent out every Friday and will be expected to be in by the following Wednesday. At least one homework task will be expected to be completed from the 'Homework Grid' which is found in the front of the homework book. The children will also be expected to practise a list of spellings in preparation for our weekly spelling test every Thursday.

Please do remember to keep up with your reading, at least ten minutes, on at least three occasions a week at home.

Thank you for your continued support smiley

What's Being Said?

"I never thought that Westwood was so large inside! From the road, it seems so small. What a wonderful use of space. The school has changed so much over the years!" - recent visitor to school
