Class 9 2020 - 2021

Mrs Brown

Helo Bawb,

I hope you are all continuing to keep well and managing to follow the advice surrounding social distancing - it remains quite a challenge but keeping ourselves safe so we can all be back together soon is so important.

During the closure of school, please continue to utilise the files in File Manager (below) to ensure continuity of learning.

  • I know many of you have now established your own times for working and are doing so well, however if you need it, the flexible timetable offers an idea of the time we recommend for each area of learning. Please don't feel you have to stick to it - only do what comfortably suits your personal circumstances.
  • The Home Learning Grid offers guidance for tasks and activities for this half term.
  • Other files  attatched  link in with the learning grid activities.

As well as MyMaths and Study Ladder you can access  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/   There are super video tutorials and White Rose worksheets children can complete.  Answers can also be accessed which will enable children to check their work, giving opportunity to identify and self correct errors.

Maths -  Individual pupil passwords for MyMaths have been generated for all Year 6 pupils and were emailed  out to all parents' emails. Study Ladder has tasks that I have set to consolidate learning.  These two  educational learning platforms  give me valuable feedback on how children are accessing the platforms and their completion of tasks.

Please note that spellings through curriculum visions are best  visited each day for around 15 minutes. Children should use dictionaries (can be online) to find definitions for words that are new or unfamiliar to them.  Each unit should take around two weeks, if children are to learn the spellings properly.

Keep your eye out for the First News Newpaper digital copy that will be sent out each week via parents emails.  Activities will be sent out too.

The new learning grid for use from Monday 27th April 2020 has been sent to all parents, along with a personal SeeSaw code which can be used for uploading work with me (and friends if parents allow).

Mrs Joan Williams and I miss everyone so much, we  hope that sometimes soon we can all be back together at Westwood having fun while we learn.

Take Care and stay safe

Mrs Brown and Mrs Joan Williams

What's Being Said?

"I never thought that Westwood was so large inside! From the road, it seems so small. What a wonderful use of space. The school has changed so much over the years!" - recent visitor to school
