Cooking the Celtic way!

Today Class 6 got to make their Celtic stew!

The first step of making the Celtic stew involved the teachers talking through the health and safety points of preparing and making food. This was very important as the children were going to use sharp knives and a slow cooker.

Next, the children worked in small groups to prepare the vegetables, making sure that they were clean and chopped into small pieces using the knives. The vegetables that we used were potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, onions and broccoli- most of these were grown in school too! To keeps things very Celtic we even added some NETTLES to our stew!

We then put everything into the slow cooker and waited around 4 hours for Celtic stew to cook. Finally, at the end of the day we all got to taste the Celtic stew- some of the pictures really show how much we enjoyed it!
