March Reminders & Updates

Updates and Reminders for March

Spring Term Parent’s Evening

Monday 23rd March 3.20pm to 5.30pm and Tuesday 24th March 3.20pm to 6.30pm

On Monday 23rd March and Tuesday 24th March, we are holding our Spring Term Parent’s Evenings. Again, as in previous years, you will be able to book a ten-minute appointment using the online facility to meet with your child’s teacher, share your child’s interim report, look at work, discuss behaviour, progress in Literacy & Numeracy, targets, sign I.E.P.’s and share important next steps.

The online system to book your child’s appointment is directly through the School Spider App or through your Parent login on the parent’s section of the website. The online system was highly effective last year so we hope this will run smoothly again this year. Therefore, it is vitally important that you have an up to date email address, so you can access the app and login successfully. The booking of appointments goes live from Tuesday 3rd March at 3.30pm and this will be the only way to arrange a parent’s evening appointment. Parents’ are notified by smartphone message/  an email when the parents’ evening is available for booking. You can then go to either the School Spider App or the school website to choose the slots that you want to book for all children. If you have any issues booking online, try logging out and back in! Before we go live, you will receive an email at 3pm on Tuesday 3rd March with your login details so please open the email. If you need to provide an up to date email address, please call into the office a.s.a.p. More details in the Newsletter on Parent’s Evenings.

Eisteddfod

Our Eisteddfod takes place on Friday 13th March. The children for this day can wear their house colours for this day:

• Gelert wear Green

• Kyffin wear Blue

• Llewellyn wear Yellow

Or your child can wear something in keeping with Wales: a traditional costume, rugby shirt etc. Please ask your child or email school if you want to know which house your child is in or need a reminder

If you are new member of our Westwood family, then your child’s class teacher will ensure you know which house they are in.

You will have received an email this week about the Parents competition. You are invited to take part in a special Parent & Child competition. We are asking you to make a 2D or 3D Welsh icon/symbol. These will need to be in school for Monday 9th March. They should be no bigger than a size of a shoe box. You should put your name and your child’s name, class with their house, on the entry. We have seen some wonderful pieces in the past and we are looking forward to seeing your entry this year. Parent Competition winners will be invited to join us on the afternoon of Friday 13th March for the Eisteddfod.

We are also having a Key stage 2 story competition for the much-coveted Eisteddfod Chair. There will be more details to follow!
