Polar Explorer comes to Westwood!

Well...what a Friday that was!

Last Friday we had a special visitor in school who taught us all about the Polar Explorer programme. The Polar Explorer programme is organised by STEM Learning and delivered with the help of Tecnhiquest staff.

Connor, the Techniquest staff member (who came all the way from Cardiff to join us!) started the day by introducing the workshop through an assembly in the hall to the whole of KS2. After a fantastic display, we then went back to our class to find out more about what the Polar Explorer is, before joining Connor in the hall to design our boat out of plasticine. In Class this afternoon, we created our very own Cartesian divers using a pipette, paperclips and a bottle of water. This is the same mechanism that submarine use to dive into the depths of the oceans! Very scientific indeed!

Everyone had a brilliant day! Take a look at some of our pictures and videos laugh

A huge DIOLCH to Connor (STEM Learning and Techniquest) and our very own ACP and SIB, along with the other Eco Reps, for helping organise such an informative day! laugh
