Algorithms and Mythical Beasts!

Algorithms and mythical beasts...what a partnership!

Before we talk about today's lesson, you are probably wondering what an algorithm is. Well here is a dictionary definition:

 Algorithm (noun): a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer.

Today, Class 6 were designing their mythical beasts. After a similar game of Top Trumps with mythical beast cards, the children were asked to follow a set of instructions from Mr. Powell to draw a mythical beast. 

The children then had the opportunity to create their own set of instructions in groups to create a mythical beast. Although there was hardly any computers involved in today's lesson, the children still followed a set of rules/instructions (algorithm) just like computers do to solve problems or carry out tasks
