Eco Committee / Pwyllgor Eco
At Westwood CP our Eco Council is made up of two pupils from each class, from Year 1 – Year 6. Councillors are elected by their peers with voting taking place after applicants present themselves to their classes, outlining their skills and the interests they have in the local and global environment . The aim of the Eco Council is to spread awareness of environmental issues and to do their best to lead change and make our environment better.
By organising whole school litter picks, monitoring energy around our school and engaging in current affairs, our Eco Council is able to raise awareness of environmental issues; this gives the children a real hands on approach and enables them to develop life-long skills and knowledge about the local and global environment, within their committee and throughout school.
