Bonfire Night Safety

Today, Class 6 looked at the reasons why we celebrate Bonfire Night and discussed all the possible ways to stay safe during firework displays.

We started by looking at the story of the Gun Powder plot, where Guy Fawkes, Robert Catesby, Thomas Percy, Thomas Winter and Francis Tresham tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and overthrow King James I.

Next we had a word search competition (congratulations to our winners SC and RA!) and had some time to colour in Bonfire Night themed worksheets. We then went on to discuss and complete a Bonfire Night safety quiz. Following the quiz, we each created our own set of top tips to stay safe during firework displays. Here are some examples of our Top Tips to stay safe during a firework display:

Always let an adult light the fireworks.

Make sure you read the labels before lighting any fireworks.

Use a bucket of water to place used or broken fireworks in.

Always check what is around you when using sparklers.

You can use safety gloves and goggles.

Always keep yours pets indoors and look after them.

Don't spend time on your phone, you might miss a magical moment! Da iawn LJ!
