Rock and Roll in Class 6!

Our new topic in Science is Rocks and Soils, and today Class 6 had a closer look at 9 different rocks.

After a little health and safety talk from Mr. Powell, the children were split into groups of 3. They had 5 minutes to study the different types of rock and explained what it look like and what if felt like using adjectives. The rocks we looked at included:

  • Marble
  • Limestone
  • Chalk
  • Sandstone
  • Grit
  • Rhyolite
  • Granite
  • Pumice
  • Slate

In our next Science lesson we will look at where and how these rocks are used, as well as looking at the reasons why they are used in particular places. As always, take a look at some of our pictures from the lesson today! laugh
