Tribute to Fred Birks

Today we received some amazing photos and news that we wanted to share with you!

Mrs Noreen Jones and her Husband Bryn are currently on holiday in Belgium. Whilst there, they took time to visit Fred Birks' final resting place. They laid a floral tribute to Fred from all of the Staff, Pupils and Parents of Westwood, along with a message from us all!

Mrs Jones said it was a very moving experience. You will see from the photographs that Fred's grave is one of many; over one thousand soldiers, service men and women are laid to rest in the burial ground in Zillebeke. The flowers in Westwood purple look striking and poinient against Fred's grave stone. 

We will send this tribute to Fred's family as they too will be visiting the grave in September, to mark the 100 year anniversary of Fred's death.
