Summer Booknic

Summer Success for Westwood's First Ever Booknic!

There is nothing better than spending time with friends,  reading a good book and enjoying a drink with a snack.  Put the three together and what do you get - a Booknic!  This is exactly what we did at Westwood on Friday afternoon and it was a perfect end to our week.

At 2:30, Westwood's children and staff spilled out onto the school field for our first ever Westwood Booknic. Armed with books, carefully selected from our fabulous school library beforehand,  and with a 'drink & snack stand' set up by our staff, almost 200 children sat out in the sunshine on picnic mats to go on a reading adventure.

It was fabulous to see the older children sitting with the younger classes sharing books; some reading to  their brothers/sisters too. Check out our pictures to see the fun we had together, choosing books from our library shelves and reading for enjoyment.

We all had a wonderful time and hope to do it again very soon.  Maybe next time some of our parents would like to join us too.  If you want to join us on our next Booknic adventure... watch this space!  In the meantime remember,  #it's great lose yourself in a good book.
